Pray for Understanding

Before you begin reading Scripture, take a moment to pray and ask God to help you understand His Word. True understanding comes through the Holy Spirit, who guides believers into truth and opens our hearts to receive Scripture. We see God opening the mind of people to help them understand scriptures in Luke 24:45, John 14:26, and John 16:13.

• Understand the beginning of creation, humanity, and God’s unfolding plan.

• Focus on the life, teachings, and identity of Jesus Christ.

How to Read

As you read Scripture:

• Observe what is happening in the passage

• Ask what it reveals about God

• Consider what it means for your life

• Re-read sections when needed

There is no rush. Understanding grows over time.
